Why litter train? The ultimate goal is to teach the puppy to view the outdoors as the best place to potty when it's old enough & ready.Obviously it keeps puppy cleaner and happier~& it makes us happy to have a puppy who knows where to go when it's windy and rainy outside here in the Northwest. We start the litter training process at about four to five weeks of age when the puppies have started eating solid foods. The litter consists of a completely natural wood pellet that when used turns to shavings and pulls moisture beneath,& away from the puppy. In our experience puppies automatically choose litter when given a choice between all other forms of potty training. We prefer litter training to other forms of potty training because it is a healthier form of potty training as news paper can transfer ink on to puppy who absorbs it into it's delicate system,& potty pads when chewed up by puppy have some af the same absorbants inside of them as a diaper and who wants that stuff ingested by their puppy? It just seems foreign for us to teach a puppy to go potty on the floor!
This size is better because the sides are higher and litter does not fly out.
LITTER I use natural pine pellets from Del's our local farm livestock and feed store. But if you can not find a livestock feed store close by then try you can use Mountain Cat pine pellets,or Feline Pine,or you can get Second Nature pellets online,or at PetSmart or PetCo.
